Today, we will discuss how to use the html Title and Meta tags to optimize your website for better search engine results. All search engines utilize this information in their indexing process; however several websites omit title and Meta tags from their pages. Easy Click will share some tips to ensure your website takes advantage of title and Meta tags.

Wonder how these tags help your website with search engine optimization? When a search engine reviews your website, it will index the pages based upon your site’s content. The search engines uses the information supplied in the Title and Meta tags to determine what categories best fits your web page. Including these tags on every page in your website, makes it easier for search engines to determine each page's subject matter.

How to use the title tag:

For the title tag you want to accurately name your page. For example, we have a page on our website that covers our page speed optimization service so within the page's title tag we list the following: Page Speed Optimization with Easy Click. So when a search engine reviews the website it knows this page covers the following topic; page speed optimization. Make sure when reviewing your website that every page includes the title tag and the title accurately portrays the page's content.

How to use the Meta tags:

Your Keyword Meta tag lists adjectives that best describe each page on your website. For example, you have a company that offers oil changes to your customers. In the Keywords Meta tag for the oil change page you would list the following: oil changes, 15 minute oil change, oil change services, car maintenance. Search engines use these keywords to help aid in indexing your page in the correct categories.

For your Description Meta tag you want to summarize the content the page will cover. Using complete sentences, describe what information visitors will find on the page. Keep the description brief three to four sentences and include some keywords listed in your Keyword Meta tag.

Adding Title and Meta tags will help you start optimizing your website for search engines. Remember search engines use information supplied in these tags in determining which search queries your website will appear and where it ranks.
